Well we have finally added two new additions to the nursery. I had mentioned in a previous post that my wonderful sister gave us a glider with an ottoman. Well the glider was great but the cushions were in bad shape plus they were pink. Since we don't know what the sex of baby Ritch will be we needed to make it more neutral. So hubby and I went to Hancock fabrics and found some perfect green poka dotted fabric...I fell in love with it, and I got to work sewing and stapling. So here is the before:
Defintely needed some work! Well here is the final product! Drum roll please!!
Doesn't it look awesome. Well the second addition is a set of book hammocks that I made. Lauren showed them to me because she wants me to make some for Matthais' room. So here are them hanging on the wall.
They are made with green striped fabric and brown fabric sewed together and then hung with dowels on the wall. Here are the book hammocks hanging on the wall next to the glider.
So we are getting there in the nursery. There are a few more decorative things that we need to add but we are making progress. Until later. Take care!

Nursery
Well again we are becoming slack on updating this thing!! It's been hard. Quick update...still no baby Ritch but we did talk to our adoption agency and there are now a few more birthmothers that we are candidites for. That is exciting but I am tired of waiting! Oh well maybe right now I need to focus on fixing some things in our house and yard...the list is becoming long! Hopefully this to do list will keep my mind off of babies!! We'll see! Well I promised some pictures of the nursery so here they are:
We still have a lot to do! We recently got a rocking chair from my awesome sis but I have to recover the cushions. I will add pictures of that later. I also have made book hammocks that my wonderful hubby needs to help me hang.
The other weekend we went to a used bookstore to find some books and I decided to purchase some children's books on adoption and I found two. The one about the bears made me cry! Here are the covers.
Aren't they cute!! We still have tons to do and get but we are working on it. I guess once we get "the call" we will start kicking it into overdrive. Well until later (hopefully with some updates!). Take care!

Progress
So I intended to write in this blog everyday or at least every other day but life has taken over. I do have some updates our homestudy is offically done we are just waiting for our copy. We are hoping to meet with our adoption lady on Friday to hand over our scrapbook. That's right we are done!!. We our so excited to be getting the nursery together. I am putting up some pictures of the nursery or what i looks like so far. Today we decided to go to Target and walk around...and guess what we bought???? A CRIB!!! I am so excited! Not only did we get the crib on sale but it came with a FREE mattress. It was awesome. I will be honest though lately it has been very hard for me to still be childless. But with some reminding from my hubby God is in control and he already has the child picked out and ready for us just in his perfect timing.

Our Story
Hi! We are Michael and Merrissa and welcome to our blog. We are in the process of adopting out first child. We are excited and scared but also know that God is in control and He has led us to this path and on this journey. We feel so blessed to be adopting and hope that others will feel God tugging at their hearts. This is our journey. The road may be long but when we have our little one in our arms we know it will be worth the wait. Here is how it all began:
We always knew that we wanted to adopt we just thought we would adopt after we had our own children. God had other plans!!! He tugged on our hearts and last Spring we began setting aside some money to pay for the adoption. We didn't know what God had in store for us. We decided to go on a missions trip last summer to Belize. Months before during a planning meeting one of the ladies that was going had to back out because she said she had birthmoms delievering that week. I asked her what she did and she said that she ran an adoption agency. Thank you Lord!! You work in mysterious ways. We met with her after we got back from Belize more fired up then ever. Every fiber of my being knew that this was the right way for us to start our family. After that initial meeting the money saving began. By the end of November we had all of the money saved and turned in our life story!! There was so much paperwork to fill out and the questions were hard but we made it through. After getting our fingerprints done and physicals and filling out more paperwork it was time to wait to hear from our social worker. We were so excited to finally have a date for our home study. After Christmas we became crazy people cleaning every square inch of our small home to prepare for the home study. No amount of book reading could prepare you for this. We didn't know what to expect. December 30th was finally here. In walked our social worker and plopped herself on our couch with her laptop and begin "grilling" us. She was so nice!! I feel like we had a really great connection with her. Although she didn't take a tour of our home it was nice to have it so clean. Now all we have left to do is wait for the home study to be completed and then wait for the CALL!! Oh yeah and we have to finish the scrapbook.
We know God has great plans for us. We feel the hardest part now is for us to wait. Everything is done and the waiting must begin. Other than getting the nursery ready. We will post some pictures soon.
Take Care,
Michael and Merrissa
